‘Horizon’ is the debut EP of the bastard child of Kanye and Damon Albarn. An infectious and upbeat, eccentric collection of songs about life, overcoming difficulties and trying to have a good time is the result of the hard work of Yuki the Boss.
This hi-fi bedroom beat-driven sound is intertwined with riffing guitars, exciting samples and raw vocals. ‘Tempa’ is the opener of the EP and an instant favourite, summer has become even sunnier with this refreshing new sound that is blasting through our speakers as we… Speak.
‘Horizon’ was clearly inspired by real life events, frustrations and exciting events that happened in the life of the Boss. Its title track has great potential to become our soundtrack of 2023. Driven by hooking samples and wavering vocals it’s infectious through and through.
‘Individualism’ thankfully is number three on the EP because its intro could have switched us off to Yuki the Boss, with spoken vocals and a hip hop-influenced sound. The song does slowly transcend in a more lo-fi indie track which is just that bit more charming in our very humble opinion. ‘In Dreams’ shows another side of the artist being more, how apt, dreamy and hazy and truly closes the circle that is ‘Horizon’. A well-rounded new release, the EP is a warm and captivating piece of art we will happily listen to once more! Let’s see what Yuki the Boss comes up with next…
