‘Shoe‘ isn’t just an inanimate object, it’s also an emerging band from Tasmania. They’re new, intriguing and unique and that’s all the reason we need to ask them some questions and get a bit more of an insight on this interesting outfit!
Where do you discover new music?
I’d like to say I find new music in cool, weird places like record stores, rummaging through bins and exclusive underground gigs that I go to all the time, but, most of the time it’s either Spotify or recommendations from friends… as well as the occasional score when Shazam-ing something in a bar or café.
What is your favourite place to write and listen to music?
For writing, the best place for me is a room with a drum kit, a bass and a guitar where I at least feel like no one is listening… Writing can be a weird and awkward process. Things often don’t sound good until they’re finished/sometimes ever. For listening, I like to be moving.. So walking is great or driving or sitting in a vehicle not driving is also good.
What activity are you unable to do without music?
Ahhhh… good question. Dancing is definitely harder…
What are your favourite things to do besides music?
I like building things, like small houses or turning old buses into small houses. Reading, travelling when I can. Eating potatoes.
Top ten favourite songs by emerging artists at the moment?
I would say these are all up there for me:
‘Dirty Dishes’ by Deer Trick
‘Friend’ by Maple Glider
‘At Pace’ by Cola
‘When I Die’ by The A’s
‘Friend That Helps’ by Twain
‘Tomorrow We Get Healthy’ by Spike Fuck
‘Excuses’ by Slag Queens
‘Cycles’ by Lili Trifilio
‘Tiny Car’ by Hannah Blackburn
‘Get Your Love Stole’ by Floating Action
