For warm garage rock riffs we turned towards Dick Dudley, and they delivered. Their latest, ‘Salt’ is a slowly building, driving track with strong vocals and a powerful alternative rock sound. Dick Dudley have created a sound for fans of punk and garage, and eclectic spoken vocals a la Squid. Their latest release resembles Squid’s ‘The Dial’, and brings an adventurous route to the table with a warm intro, a heavily riffing middle and an abrupt ending.
The Northern UK band bring post punk goodness at its best, with lyrics inspired by personal experiences. On ‘Salt’ that personal experience is a kidney disease… The song is angsty, filled with rage, and a hint of defeat, “if you know, you know”. This anthemic rock track is an unapologetic tribute to all those battling kidney disease, its gritty storytelling edges between “Seriously, I have a disease” and “I’ll just go fuck myself”.
Dick Dudley are proudly unconventional, something that is adamant on their latest musical offering. Emotional yet witty, sensitive and introspective, and self aware enough to mock the world, and themselves!
