The one man army brought us an uplifting summertime anthem that fuses blues rhythms with an infectiously poppy hook, one that channels the wholesome optimism associated with sticky, sunny days and tents filled with music fans. Funke’s first album in five year, ‘Reacclimate’ was born following a tour with Dutty Moonshine Big Band last year. From the tour grew a fruitful working relationship with producer DJ Binge, which is bringing us an unrelentingly powerful album, intertwined with “some real beautiful, tender moments”. As a whole, the album is a reflection on Funke’s own growth and re-invention, mentioning subjects such as the world post-Covid, a personal journey that leads on after Funke suddenly lost his partner to cancer, and the determination to come back fighting.
