The soft and atmospheric new single Bobby Bazini released is called ‘Heartwood’ and hints at inspiration taken from lo-fi bedroom pop blended with alternative dream pop! His strong vocals with their rough edge resemble those of Paolo Nutini and bring a soulful vibe to his sound. ‘Heartwood’ is an ethereal and beautifully musical song with elements of blues rock and soulful pop rock.
The multi-platinum selling Quebec singer and songwriter returned with a single taken from his new album ‘Pearl’. The song has a punchy live feeling, Bobby elaborates on the song and the inspiration behind it: “I read this great book by Canadian author Michael Christie, called Green Wood, and it’s about family and there is a clever link between the rings inside the roots of a tree and family generations. I was thinking of my own relationship with my family which has improved a lot now but has been difficult in the past. I was wondering how long it takes for some of the rings in the tree to heal, how long it takes for the patterns to break. And how much time it takes before you can walk your own path.”
His passionate and soulful sound is inspiring and empowering and made me reflect on my own family rings. Love and loss has hurt us all, yet helped us heal and grow closer together as well. A strong song makes me ponder and reflect, which is what Bobby Bazini accomplished, ‘Heartwood’ is a great introduction to the soulful pop artist!
