The Austin-based alternative rock singer brings big drums, spacious synths, melodic guitar riffs and soaring vocal lines. ‘More Than Friends’ embodies a letter penned to a friend who’s navigated through a string of tumultuous relationships, all the while unaware of the writer’s eager wish to offer them a more meaningful connection, if only they’d be given the chance.
The song reminds me of Taylor Swift’s earlier work with it being a soaring love song, her raw voice and simple yet poetic lyrics bring a different layer of meaning to the song and make it a raw and personal story we can undoubtedly all relate to.
