Eclectic alternative rock outfit Bull are back with the release of a single and video for ‘Start A New’. The song is a musical ray of sunshine that brings a shimmering and upbeat soundscape, it’s hard not to smile while listening to ‘Start A New’! Their new single is bright and breezy and hints at influences of jangle pop with the bands’ trademark sharp vocals and friend- and collaborator-driven vocal harmonies.
The song’s wistful tone is one of hope and new beginnings, and the possibilities the future brings. “I wrote the song ‘Start a New’ in 2020” explains Tom, “It’s about, out with the old, in with the new, goodbye clouds of grey, hello skies of blue! I’d been living in Scarborough and looking at the sea, the song feels like a dip in the pool, a trip to the spa, endless days in my chaise. ‘Start a New’ is the whole world according to moi.”
The song was recorded in Amsterdam and finished back home in York. The band formed at school and were the first band from York since Shed Seven to sign to a major label back in 2020. Their debut album ‘Discover Effortless Living’ was released on EMI, and they got support from national radio throughout their musical career. They toured with Sports Team, Bodega, Personal Trainer – there’s the recurring link to the Netherlands – and played Leeds and Reading Festival.
