Ollie Lou Smith writes songs in a peculiar way, taking inspiration from the – in my humble opinion – mundane, and turning it into little pockets of moody singer songwriter songs. This particular one is a song about pigeons and lovers, “beautiful and elusive birds”, something I don’t agree with… At all. I do personally believe they are pests and there are too many of them. But I am not one to talk negatively, so here comes all the good I’ve got to say about pigeons…
The song is a sweet and warm-hearted song with a warm intro and soft soundscape and beautifully sharp vocals. The track is a natural sounding alternative folk pop track embracing Smith’s glitches and mistakes, instead of trying to fight and polish them. The song, despite its subject (please read this with a wink and a smile), is a soft and eclectic one that I could easily listen to again and again!
