A new five track piece of alternative rock art was released by Austin-based duo MISSIO! The duo is made up of Matthew Brue and David Butler and their new release is another thumping collection of alt rock tracks. They create the kind of sounds that lifts your spirits, numbs your stress and invites you to live your dream.
‘I Am Awesome’ is another cumulation achieving the aforementioned effortlessly. It’s opening ‘Not My Fault’ is a hazy and shimmering pop track highlighting their crystal clear vocals with the addition of sporadic vocal harmonies and a soundscape ever evolving. More dynamic soundscapes enter the mix on ‘Heart Made of Dynamite’, and ‘Goodbye to the Old Me’ is a nearly bluesy rock sound enhanced by theatrical vocal harmonies! The song and its powerful orchestral sounds has become a favourite of mine.
‘Making Me Nervous’ shows the electronic pop side of the duo, irresistible but sounding a tad too much like I’m in a club in Amsterdam… ‘Run Away’ is the perfect breather and end of this eclectic and fanatically driving rock EP. It shows the duos musical versatility and passion for creating new and unique sounds! On ‘I Am Awesome’ MISSIO delivers a mantra we could all benefit from, “our songs are hopeful, because we want to point everyone towards a better future”.
