Bess Atwell – The Weeping

The brutally emotive alternative pop sound of Bess Atwell is brought back to us in the form of her latest single release, ‘The Weeping’. Quietly confident, Atwell released a soaring and passionate folk pop song standing out thanks to her sharp and wonderful voice driving the track forward.

‘The Weeping’ is captivating from the very first second, pulling on our heartstrings by combining beautiful spoken vocals with a subtle yet colourful sonic soundscape. On ‘The Weeping’, Bess said: “I knew The Weeping was in me, I just wasn’t sure when it would decide to come out. I only knew I was writing it when I got to the second verse and realised I finally had a vantage point. My younger sister is autistic, the kind of non-verbal autism that requires 24/7 care, and this track is mostly about what it was like to grow up with her. The Weeping explores the parallels between me and my sister which is more interesting when you consider that I wrote it before I found out that I’m also autistic, this year – albeit, in a far less debilitating, disabling way.”

This single is the first new material following the release of her critically acclaimed album ‘Already, Always’, and will be followed and supported by a string of headline shows in June as well as support slots with The National. The Brighton-based artist recently supported Ed Sheeran at the Royal Albert Hall and worked with The National’s producer Aaron Dessner on her latest release, making sure she’s one impossible to ignore much longer!
