A soft and angelic voice introduces Genevieve Miles‘ latest to us, the hazy folk pop single she’s shared with us is called ‘Beer In The Fridge’ and chronicles the fragility and hope of new love.
‘Beer In The Fridge’ is taken from her new six track EP and it is a pensive, emotive song perfectly introducing what is to come from the folk songstress in the near future. This short but sweet charismatic new release is just what we needed to match the grey and windy weather outside. The Bristol- and Birmingham-based self-made musician is hitting a milestone with her EP ‘So heavy, so hard to hold’ and teased us with the release of ‘Beer In The Fridge’.
Hinting at influences of indie and pop, she blends inspirations and influences into a mix that is entirely her own, driven by a bright voice and intricate soundscapes. The EP was written in 2020 when she was a few years younger and faced emotions that felt too heavy for one person to hold, so she transferred their weight into the six songs you can listen to below. On ‘So heavy, so hard to hold’, we also find previously released as a single ‘Tough Love’, which is an almost electronic pop-fuelled track more powerful and in your face then those songs hinting at a folk influence.
‘Beer In The Fridge’ is a personal favourite, of Genevieve Miles, and of her latest EP, with it being an open-hearted and unhurried sound we could just listen to on repeat!
