An instantly captivating single was released by Seattle-based indie pop singer and songwriter Tinsley. ‘Distract Me’ is her latest alternative pop song driven by a dynamic soundscape and gorgeous, hazy vocals. Its rhythm is a softly thumping one that you just have to slowly sway along to. Hers is a softly wandering, seductive sound that reminds us of Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ era, combined with the stubborn and open-hearted way Yonaka’s Theresa tells her stories.
Tinsley blends influences taken from the indie and alternative pop genres with a shoegaze-induced dream pop sound. She wrote ‘Distract Me’ about using romance as a form of self-sabotage and justifying dating bad boys with the excuse of “doing it for the plot”, which reminds us even more of T. Swift… Despite the similarities, Tinsley created a more alternative pop sound driven by warm guitar tones standing out from the commercial pop sound, and making her a creative artist to watch!
