This year will be the first that we are visiting Barcelona, and not for nothing… We will be heading to Primavera Sound at the end of May to catch some internationally known bands, and a few of our emerging favourites. With the line-up being filled with incredible artists, we thought we would give some of the names we had not yet heard of a listen and let you know what we think of them!
Blonde Redhead quite instantly caught our attention, and the new wave rock trio did not disappoint. Their soft and angelic sound is sweet and thin as a feather, or at least single ‘For The Damaged Coda’ is. We can only imagine how captivating their set at Primavera Sound will be, so they’ve been added to our ‘to watch’ list! German synth pop artist and producer Roosevelt has appeared on our radar before but since we’ve never crossed paths before, now seems to be the perfect time. His funky and colourful soundscapes are unhurried and refined and will make for a great atmosphere in the midst of a busy festival schedule.
Based on their fun and eclectic name we decided to give Voxtrot a spin and we immediately fell head over heels for the exciting rock’n’roll outfit. Voxtrot reunited after a hiatus due to a social media frenzy and now they’re playing Primavera Sound, clearly social media doesn’t only have bad side effects… A charming and seductive new alternative rock sound is brought to us by BADBADNOTGOOD, added to the list, and Hannah Diamond brings a completely different electronic alternative rave sound that is strangely addictive…
The Lemon Twigs are of course a pair of must-sees with their warm and 70’s-inspired pop rock sound, they might not be emerging but they are lower on the line-up then some of the festival’s incredible headliners. Pulp, Vampire Weekend, Deftones, Lana Del Rey, The National and PJ Harvey are artists we are in no way to miss, and we can’t wait to experience these artists live! You can find the entire line-up below.
