Video: Yoshika Colwell – It’s Getting Late

A soft and soothing, atmospheric new alternative pop song and video were released by Yoshika Colwell. Her latest is single ‘It’s Getting Late’ and the song is built on a soft and subtle soundscape and her beautiful and extensive vocal range.

The single is her debut and explores existential concepts such as time, nature and mortality in her lyrics. Yoshika takes her inspiration from a wide rage of artists, with Joni Mitchell being the most present one. ‘It’s Getting Late’ was released on the Spring Equinox and translates the sound of a changing season and evolving from one chapter into another. The video of the song shows her, tranquil, singing the song in a cosy-looking cottage.

Yoshika said of her new release, “It’s a comment on stagnation, the passage of time, fear of failure and ultimately, death and an attempt towards an acceptance of the cycle of time that all things exist within.” Its soothing sound bring us the comfort and accepting we seek and Colwell has found in sound-form. The single is undoubtedly the first in a series of mesmerising alternative folk songs from the hand of the South East England-based songstress.
