Album: Jodie Nicholson – Safe Hands

North East-based singer, songwriter, and producer Jodie Nicholson is releasing her sophomore album ‘Safe Hands’ on the 10th of May and it is a stunning collection of hazy dream pop songs!

Album opener ‘You Wanted This’ instantly sets the tone for an angelic and refreshingly soft collection of pop tracks that are refined and catchy. Her beautifully captivating voice takes centre stage on the 12 track counting new release and showcases her skills as a musician, songwriter and producer as all of its songs are beautifully mastered and tie in well with one another.

Some of our personal highlights of the album include single ‘Bad Dream’, which is a rather dark-tinted pop rock release with a slow and almost daunting piano-driven soundscape. ‘Another Frequency’ is slightly more experimental, showing a more effect-driven side of Nicholson’s musical palette. All songs on the album tie in well together, and play on the theme of self trust. Jodie delves into the intricacies that come with relationships, including those with friends, family and more personally, her changing relationship with music.

‘Starlight’ is a beautifully intricate track on the album playing on a more delicate sound and subject, hinting heavily at influences taken from artists such as Daughter, Matt Corby, and The National. ‘Here I Am’ and ‘Love, I’m On Fire’ are more highlights on a well-crafted album, sounding like soft and hazy bedroom pop songs quite unique to Jodie Nicholson. She’ll be touring the country from the 18th of May, you can find her upcoming live dates below.
