Here’s an echoing and throughout engaging new EP we very much indulged ourselves in, it’s Johnny Cisneros‘ latest release ‘MOTIONS’!
The collection of work consists of four daunting electro rock releases with thumping soundscapes and thundering drum rolls. The rising Latin indie artist has unleashed his EP promising his listeners a transcendental experience through the kaleidoscope of human emotions. He has moved away and into the modern psychedelia landscape. Although its intro is rather captivating, I can’t help but miss a set of strong vocals to sing along to.
Title track ‘MOTIONS’ does come with lyrics, and with its slightly more uplifting and elevating soundscape and almost festive hint it is a favourite on the EP for me. ‘MOTIONS’ is a fusion of dream pop and electronic alternative pop and soft, floating vocals. The single highlights the dream-state of living in the past.
On ‘Cuando No Estas Aqui’, or ‘when you are not here’, delves into his cultural roots and brings a refreshing combination of Spanish and English lyrics and weaves several genre-influences into one another. Its 90’s drum beats and use of synths makes it a soft and luscious pop track. Cisneros ends on a high note with ‘When I’m With Her’, an intricate and soulful, almost jazzy alternative pop track that lingers and echoes and examines past love and the fear of moving forward.
On ‘MOTIONS’ we here a determined and multi-faceted musician opening himself up to a new audience by bending and blending multiple genres and it’s a fun and refreshing listen!
