A grand and powerful new rock album was released by Sheffield-based band The Farewell State who return with new music after the success of debut single ‘Year Zero’. ‘Dial Everything’ is their first full album.
“The album is so named because you can dial it up to eleven, you can dial it down to zero, you can dial it in, dial it out but it is omnipresent in all things. ‘It’ being the ebb and the flow, the sound and the fury.”
The Farewell State decided to dial up on this collection of songs that is driven by raspy vocals and heavy soundscapes. ‘Break The Past’ is the most Queens of the Stone Age-esque on the long-player, despite less harmonious vocals leading the track and its story. We hear the work and emotions that went into this eight track album, the band overcame line-up changes, studio floods, a pandemic, two lockdowns, mental and physical ailments and the usual stresses of life on top of that.
Seeing as life wasn’t easy, we can hear the passion and effort that went into the making of the album. “These particular tunes have grabbed us for 14 years so far and we hope they will do the same for you. From electric protest songs via epic ballads to guitar riff meltdowns. These songs have seen it all and have it all.” It’s rough around the edges at times, with slow intros and rough vocals, but what we hear is a band with their heart and soul in the right place and state of mind, and that is incredibly commendable for this day and age! Hopefully The Farewell State will keep growing and evolving and bring us another album again soon.
