An eight track collection of subtle indie ballads brought our attention to pop artist Megan Winsor, her brand new album ‘INTERMISSION’ is a grand introduction to the songstress’ signature sound.
‘Cruel’ is a perfect and subtly catchy sounding track and the album’s opener, the track plays with soft pop melodies and Winsor’s beautifully storytelling voice. Slowly building towards powerful choruses is what she does, and on ‘INTERMISSION’ she does it so very well. “I started writing his project while I was feeling very lost. I had just finished school and it felt like I was just waiting, waiting for something to happen.” On ‘Favorite’ we hear a young and slightly naïve sound and hook, while ‘The Type’ talks about learning to rely on yourself. The album, its stories, listen like a journey through time.
Her exhilarating soundscapes and intriguing guitar-driven soundscapes are filled with emotion and a passion to create. On ‘Sure’ we hear Megan at hear most fragile, vocal- and sound-wise, while she turns more indie on ‘Ash’, and ’90s Van’ has a deliciously folky intro. “‘YRMFB’ is just a funny story turned into a fun song. Together, these songs really sum up the past two years of my life, filled with contemplation, fun, and living in the moment amidst all the uncertainty. The well-summarised musical journey Megan Winsor went on to create this album has brought us a very fun and light-hearted yet seriously exciting album filled with soft pop songs we are excited to listen to again and again.
