North East-based emerging outfit Sugar Roulette have created a distorted punk rock niche for themselves and showcase their determined sound on latest single ‘The Devil’s In The Detail’. Powerful riffs, heavy drum rolls and strong, shouting vocals shove the track in our faces, there’s no escaping their passion and energy, Sugar Roulette is on the rise and ‘The Devil’s In The Detail’ shows it!
Slowly Slowly – Gimme The Wrench
Slowly building alternative pop track ‘Gimme The Wrench’ is the latest from pop outfit Slowly Slowly who’ve created an undeniably catchy new pop release. A tad commercial compared to what we usually share, but ‘Gimmer The Wrench’ has a confident stubbornness amplified by powerful vocals and teasing guitar lines that make us want to hear more and Slowly Slowly’s single over and over again.
Nick Howe – Crash
London singer songwriter Nick Howe has returned with the release of his catchy Sheeran-influences single ‘Crash’. The song builds on a minimalistic guitar-driven soundscape and his softly passionate vocals leading us through his latest story. He’s clearly taken some inspiration from artists such as Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, blending different influences taken from pop and rock, making it his own on ‘Crash’.
Jana Mila – Chameleon
A soft and wandering single was released by Dutch artist Jana Mila, she’s settling within her space in this modern musical landscape with ‘Chameleon’. This warm and soulful alternative pop release brings a soft breeze, a welcome breather to our day. Beautiful vocals, a subtle and hazily coloured soundscape driven by warm guitar tones colour our playlists and have us mesmerised. The single is also the title track of her upcoming debut album and we can’t wait to hear it all.
dye-dye – hot glue
‘hot glue’ is the latest soft and sultry new alt rock release by dye-dye, and talks about a divorce and the different perspectives of relationships. ‘hot glue’ is a slow burner, introducing itself through a hazy indie pop soundscape, and working towards a recurring explosion of powerful guitar-driven distortion which makes this new release an exhilarating surprise from the beginning until its very end.
Queen Cult – The Hand Lender
Queen Cult bring another fast paced, caffeinated punk rock release with ‘The Hand Lender’, delicious guitar licks and strong, sharp vocals lead us through this driving rock track. This high energy soundscape perfectly introduces the passionate and expressive sound of the alternative rock phenomenon we’ve come to know over the past few months. The single will appear on the band’s third EP ‘Be Better’ which is due for release this August!
Luke Sital-Singh – Hold the Lightning
Singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh introduces a subtly more uplifting sound a la Harry Styles on single ‘Hold the Lightning’. It is a soft and hazy, warm and sexy new release slowly wandering away, taking us on a musical journey guided by angelic vocals and colourful compositions. ‘Hold the Lightning’ introduces a slightly different sound compared to his signature indie folk sound, with cynical lyrics set to an upbeat, jovial tone. A welcome sound nonetheless.
Muddy Elephant – 18
’18’ is an evocative indie rock journey written and released by Muddy Elephant. Theirs is an uplifting, almost melancholic indie sound driven by soft vocals and hazy guitar lines a la The Kooks and Circa Waves. They capture the wild spirit of being eighteen, “the song reflects on love and heartbreak, underpinned by raw, relatable lyrics”. It is hard for me to remember exactly how I felt when I was eighteen, but this track surely makes it sound quite the ride!
Kids In Glass Houses – Theme From Pink Flamingo
Welsh five piece Kids In Glass Houses brought us a delicious yacht rock track with a highly infectious rhythm and synth-driven hooks on ‘Theme From Pink Flamingo’. The track is due to appear on the upcoming album ‘Pink Flamingo’, out at the end of October. We’d not heard of this infectious indie outfit but were quite instantly caught by their fast paced and energetic sound, it’s undeniably addictive!
