Hotel Mira – The View From The Barstool

Canadian indie outfit Hotel Mira have just released their summer anthem ‘The View From The Barstool’ and it’s been stuck in our head ever since the first listen!

The track hints at influences taken from indie, surf, and pop rock, and dances like the waves on a cool summer evening. With catchy indie banger ‘The View From The Barstool’, Hotel Mira caught our attention and brought an indie anthem hard not to dance along to. The Canadian outfit performed at several UK cities in May including a show at Brighton’s inner city festival and conference. The alternative surf pop outfit have created a musical blend akin to Circa Waves and The Kooks, perfect for the festival fields this summer.

The quartet comprises of frontman and songwriter Charlie Kerr, guitarist Clark Grieve, bassist Mike Noble and drummer Cole George. On their new single, the band noted: “I think the notion that someone would be wholly unaffected by being a public figure is absurd. There is a psychic damage or at least shift to knowing that what you are going to say and do will be analysed and consumed and that you have very little control in the matter. So, I suppose what ‘The View From The Barstool’ is articulating is that I recognise a change in me. I feel less insane acknowledging I am sensitive to being treated differently.” Kerr is ready for fame!

Within the lyrics of his latest he expresses the feelings and questions that come with fame and how others start treating you and those you surround yourself with. It’s a subtly emotive yet upbeat sounding track filled with intrigue and important questions.
