Sister Ghost – Dark Matter

A slow theatrical rock sound driven by sharp and stunning vocals is what makes Sister Ghost‘s ‘Dark Matter’ a special new release!

The Irish artist announced her debut album ‘Beyond The Water’ alongside this riveting pop rock track. An undeniably catchy chorus hooks us to the soft rock artist and her colourful compositions. About ‘Dark Magter’ she said: “‘Dark Matter’ is one of my favourites from the album, it’s bittersweet and nostalgic and it’s where the album title is lifted from. Musically it’s influenced by some of my favourite big-sounding 80s bands like Simple Minds, Tears for Fears and The Call.”

Inspired by a sad French film, Sister Ghost wrote this song about the sadness queer people feel when they have to hide their true selves. Derry-based Shannon Delores O’Neill is the brain behind Sister Ghost. She wrote ‘Dark Matter’ and most of her upcoming album throughout lockdown in her childhood home in Northern Ireland. She took inspiration from nature, her surroundings, dreams of traveling, books, and films. She expanded her and our world by creating such poignant sounds in a time many of us felt stuck and lonely. Sister Ghost is exciting, comforting, and took something grim into a powerful and raging musical release!
