A stunning new alternative folk release was put out into the world by Hazlett, ‘Shiver’ is an angelic new ballad with hazy vocals and a subtly theatrical soundscape.
Folk musician Hazlett just released ‘Shiver’ taken from his new six track EP which is due out on the 4th of October of this year. It is as if he put music to the word shiver and with that created wandering and emotive soundwaves to support the meaning behind the word. The Swedish singer and songwriter blended a minimalistic arrangement with intricate fingerpicking guitar lines and gently philosophical lyrics. On ‘Shiver’, Hazlett ponders over the difficulty of making the right choices in life.
A relatable question put to such an enigmatic sound would always make for a success, if you can put such a dry label on such an intricate and personal piece of work. About his latest single, Hazlett says: “I think to some extent whatever path we take life has a funny way of taking us to our destination anyway. But that only happens when we’re led by our gut, we have good intentions and we’re not scared to make the wrong choice. Sometimes it is just about choosing a door to open and being irrationally confident that the universe will guide you to where you need to go either way.”
The first part of his upcoming EP, ‘Goodbye to the Valley Low’ was recorded in an off-grid cabin in the middle of Scandinavian nowhere. We can hear the contemplation and how overbearing modern life and influences were unable to tar this raw and real release. The clean production of the song gives it a shiny and colourful finish and make its vocals stand out that bit more. Hazlett has well and truly impressed with ‘Shiver’, and we’re looking forward to hear ‘Goodbye to the Valley Low’!
