Icarus Phoenix – Live. Give. Lose. Grow.

DIY indie rock outfit Icarus Phoenix have just released their album ‘I Should Have Known the Things You Never Said’ – a mouth full, indeed – on which we find mesmerising hazy folk rock track ‘Live. Give. Lose. Grow.’.

Icarus Phoenix have built a solid following through DIY tours, solid releases, and the fact that they’ve created a niche for themselves. Their sound is a refreshing indie folk one combined with distorted rock hooks and warm vocals. ‘Live. Give. Lose. Grow.’ is a warm and enticing track with a simple soundscape and softly spoken vocals. The track appears on the band’s brand new album ‘I Should Have Known the Things You Never Said’, which is a collection of ten tracks all showcasing the band’s musical brainwaves.

For their fourth studio album they worked with producer Jed Jones who previously worked with Post Malone and The Killers amongst others, and brought together a team of multi-talented friends to play parts on the album. The album was written by Drew Danburry in 2021 and 2022 after divorcing his wife of 13 years and leaving his 8 years old son with her to move across the country amidst a housing crisis. It’s a personal and emotive work clearly driven by passion and used as a way to process a roller coaster of a period in life.

“We’ve worked so hard at this album. And it’s finally here. It took a year and a half to pay for the recording. We’re putting everything we can into spreading the word. We’d love to have you be a part of the process as well. Thank you.”
