Video: Arliston – Vertical

A soaring new pop release accompanied by a stop motion video was released by pop artist Arliston. ‘Vertical’ is a slowly building anthemic ballad we could easily listen to on repeat.

There’s only a certain amount of commercial pop artists we tolerate and one of them is multidimensional artist and visionary Arliston. ‘Vertical’ is their latest and comes with a playful stop frame animation video. The song is soft and heartfelt, bringing a wandering pop sound to our living room. Beautiful voices slowly build towards subtle highs that are addictive and make us want to listen to this intricate pop track again and again.

Arliston know how to best use the building blocks of commercial pop hits, they’ve built them in the past, and they built one again with ‘Vertical’. The video for the single combines a wonderful animation with time lapses, all centred around a small action figure’s search for his head. “It was a lot of fun spit balling all the possible ideas for this video, and then we were faced with the reality of producing it! The stop frame sections were the harder portion for this shoot, but I think the general story line is conveyed, even if the occasional frame does include my clumsy hand!” The song grapples with the uncertainty of a particularly fraught time of life, our late twenties and early thirties. The duo have conveyed the message and made us feel supported in the process.
