North East based indie rock band The Casbahs have recently released their new single ‘Roman Numerals’, which is an infectious piece of crowd-pleasing alternative indie. The single comes with a great video slash short film.
Soft vocals and a steadily swaying indie rock soundscape make for a seductive and welcoming sound we very much enjoy. The band have crafted a subtle and warm mix of influences that is rather uplifting, although ‘Roman Numerals’ could build that bit more pace just past its midway point. The colourful guitar-driven soundscape is a wandering one, welcome within its genre and on the live scene.
“It’s quite a mellow sombre song in both sound and meaning, going overboard on references, poetry and metaphors.”
The Casbahs was formed by Niall and Joe in County Durham in 2019 and has changed its name since, as well as having released an EP and an album. They bring a mix of indie rock, 60’s, 90’s and alternative guitar sounds and are currently on their way to take over the north east. ‘Roman Numerals’ is part of the big plan and was recorded as part of the upcoming album. It’s a fan and live favourites and comes with a short film that shows the band’s versatility!
