Video: Slumber – Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)

UKs hottest new indie rock band Slumber have just released their party rock anthem, ‘Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)’ is a tongue-in-cheek rock track we could listen to over and over again!

London-based five piece Slumber are crashing the party with their tasteful and eclectic new release. ‘Julian Casablancas (I Wanna Rock A Pair Like)’ is their debut single and sets the tone for what they aim to achieve with their exciting rock sound. This is the anthem for every socially awkward mess who longs to steal the spotlight. Its riffing soundscape gets supported by a short film narrating the story behind the track; a night out in London. The visual accompanying the single makes us feel like we are at the party, while Slumber sings the words we can feel at our core.

“This is a song about the pressure of London nightlife, that sense of feeling totally inadequate in a room of what always seems to be the coolest and hottest people you can possibly imagine. Of course, that’s much too vulnerable to say directly, so instead we just offset it with a stupid joke about The Strokes and their jeans.”

Imagine Rivers Cuomo stumbling into a Dandy Warhols rehearsal and attempting to write a Blur track, and you’ll get something close to ‘Julian Casablancas’. A Heineken-stained, flash-photography-fuelled anthem soaked in a uniquely British form of mild-mannered hedonism. With a mix of self-aware swagger and endearing imperfections, Slumber is here to revive the indie sleaze party—and yes, your name’s on the guest list.
