Another powerful pop rock release was brought to us by iconic outfit Bastille. Soaring vocals and a string-driven soundscape make ‘Blue Sky & The Painter’ a delightful listen.
‘Blue Sky & The Painter’ slowly builds towards an eruptive and thundering chorus, the song is a sweet yet heart-wrenching new release made captivating by the voice of singer Dan. The single is taken from his new project, ‘&’, which is a collection of songs due to be released on the 25th of October.
We know Bastille as an emotive and passionate outfit that bring anthem after anthem. Aided by angelic vocals and subtle soundscapes that use the building blocks of pop with hints of stadium rock, Bastille know how to wrap their audience around their finger. With ‘Blue Sky & The Painter’ they use that same formula, adding in some fresh ingredients to make it another captivating listen over a carbon copy of what they’ve done before.
‘Blue Sky & The Painter’ is inspired by the Norwegian expressionist painter, Edvard Much, and his relationship with his depression. The song is about seeing a crack of light in life after a long period of darkness. You can watch a stripped back version of the song in the middle of the Sargasso Sea where Dan was invited by Greenpeace to raise awareness of protecting our oceans here.
