‘Lost’ is the instantly punching, honest break up ballad by Brooklyn alternative pop outfit Honeysucker. Their latest release is another tasteful slice of indie!
Don’t let it’s careful optimistic sound fool you, ‘Lost’ may sound upbeat but talks about a love turned sour. “I fell in love once. It started off sweet but by the end I would’ve preferred falling down an elevator shaft instead.” The short and sweet, shoegaze-y track translates this feeling subtly, tastefully, and without the nasty aftertaste of such a situation. Strong vocals, and a colourful soundscape hinting at influences taken from disco bring the subject to life and introduce us to the new Honeysucker.
“To be clear, it was nothing she did, we were just different people. She came from LA, I hated the sun. She wanted a cat, I was allergic. She was halfway through grad school, I was six months into a year-long bender. So we met in the middle, which turned out to be nowhere.” Since being ‘nowhere’ gave us this inspiring and subtly punching indie disco anthem, ‘nowhere’ surely isn’t that bad a place to be?!
