Album: Wendy James – The Shape Of History

Wendy James has returned to the spotlight with the release of her tenth album ‘The Shape Of History’, the album is a culmination of the sounds and influences that inspired her throughout her career to date.

Her softly spoken, swaying and theatrical alternative pop sound offers an easy listening experience in the form of thirteen songs that were written between London and New York. ‘The Shape Of History’ finds James reflecting on love, life, and her journey in music, and in her own words: “‘The Shape Of History’ has a lot about love in it, a lot about appreciation of oneself, one’s life and importantly, of others. It is life’s arc of starting out, blooming into something and in some ways maturing, I don’t think my music has got older, I know I’ve not gone mellow! y attitude can be more ferocious and fearless than ever, but there is an acquired wisdom, which naturally comes after having been alive for a few decades!”

She’s got a rich musical history fronting Transvision Vamp and takes that expertise creating a sound that is undoubtedly hers. Soft, sweet, uplifting, and engaging, hers is a charming one. She’ll be touring the album with a series of in-stores across the country including one at Newcastle’s Beyond Vinyl, situated at The John Marley Centre, on Friday the 25th of October.
