Grumpy Custard – Jobsworth

Punching punk track ‘Jobsworth’ is new work from Brighton’s witty punk rock group Grumpy Custard. It’s a fast paced, energetic, and driving track with sharp vocals and an overall funky sound that hints at influences taken from surf rock. They deliver sarcastic lyrics and crunchy riffs, bringing a tongue-in-cheek sound that is rather refreshing. All I can do is wonder what this would sound and feel like live!

Trolleberg – Anyone but You

A rich and colourful new alternative pop release was shared with us by Swedish pop punk outfit Trolleberg. Their latest ‘Anyone but You’ is a softly shimmering pop release with strong vocals and a strong guitar-driven soundscape that slowly builds towards an exciting and steady high. Its angelic pop sound is refreshing and unhurried, without any frills the band have created a comforting sound that is quite the soothing autumnal afternoon soundtrack!

Ash the Ash – A Lot to Give

A strong and rhythmic alternative rock track was released by Ash the Ash, the Swiss music group wrote an anthem for the Sunday stroller with ‘A Lot to Give’. The single tells the story of the loser who never gives up, its warm bass lines and thumping rhythm make for a pleasant and unhurried listen. ‘A Lot to Give’ is a three part track that takes its listener on a sincere journey towards realising that although we all have a lot to give, most of just want to take, take, take.

Griffin Benton – A Darker Shade

Bringing a refreshing amount of guitar licks back to our playlists is Griffin Benton with his luscious new rocking Turner-esque track ‘A Darker Shade’. Sultry vocals get support from a thunderous, hard hitting soundscape that is deliciously similar to artists we love such as Foo Fighters and Royal Blood. We hear strong vocals, a fanatic rhythm and confident riffs, they’re the perfect introduction to Griffin Benton ahead of the release of his new album!

Video: Wax-Tree-Cast – Argue Like I Love You

West Yorkshire indie rock duo Wax-Tree-Cast has returned to the top of our list of favourites with the release of their new single ‘Argue Like I Love You’. This anthemic new release is a pleasant listen and makes for a stunning and soothing soundtrack to our lazy afternoons. Beautiful vocals and stadium ready melodies make for the perfect introduction to the band’s refined sound. ‘Argue Like I Love You’ tackles the dynamics in toxic relationships in a charming way.

Forestline – Poor Jack

Los Angeles genre-bending outfit Forestline released ‘Poor Jack’, which combines elements of driving indie pop, synth and rock. This fast paced and highly energetic piece of refreshing rock is forged from powerful collaborations and driven by grand vocals. The musical project started this year and has already garnered the rightful attention. ‘Poor Jack’s lyrics are what hooked us, with “have you heard the news / the devil’s back in town again” being a personal favourite!

Pit Pony – Well Well

Delightful new punk rock track ‘Well Well’ is the latest from Newcastle’s Pit Pony. The track is a fast paced and punching, energetic track with a refreshing amount of riffs and nearly spoken vocals leading us through a story inspired by a moment of literary discovery in Katie Atkinson’s ‘A God In Ruins’. It captures the band’s punching and vibrant sound that makes for a pleasant and steadily thumping listen.

Vilhelm Buchaus – My Mistake

‘My Mistake’ is a subtly thumping track with soft vocals that makes for a hazy dream rock anthem with a strong soundscape. Grand vocals and vocal harmonies take us by the hand leading us through Vilhelm Buchaus’ latest musical brainchild. Catchy and driving, the indie rock anthem is a bouncing and poppy one infused with 80’s and 90’s references, capturing the feeling of getting lost in a relationship that you know will end in heartbreak.

Apricot Ink – Aquarius Pisces

‘Aquarius Pisces’ is a soft and slowly building alternative folk sound created by Apricot Ink and driven by stunning vocal harmonies. This slow burner is a soft and soothing alternative release similar to the sound of Wildwood Kin and Peri Rae. Beautiful lyricism paints a vivid picture that is supported by simple guitar lines and an angelic haziness that is rather addictive. ‘Aquarius Pisces’ is the perfect introduction to Apricot Ink’s sound.
