Blair Davie dives straight in, unapologetically, on his latest release ‘Coming Of Age’. This fast paced indie rock release is driven by delicious guitar licks and strong vocals!
The song is a safe haven, catchy and comfortable, and follows his recent single ‘Prague’. ‘Coming Of Age’ is another rich and spirited indie pop release that highlights his aesthetic. The single is vibrant and colourful and was inspired by a conversation with Derrick Southerland, “he asked me if I ever write any songs “with tempo”. I told him that I don’t often do upbeat songs because I worry that the emotion can get lost and so he set us that challenge of writing a song that still hits the heart but can make you dance at the same time.”
“Coincidentally, an idea had come to me the morning before the session, that gave me the same sense of polarity. It was about how growing up, especially those formative teenage years, were some of both the best and worst times of my life equally. It’s a time where you’re so confused, vulnerable and excited all at once. Your friends and you are growing up at different places, exploring, failing, peaking. No one’s got it figured out but no one tells you that.” Combine this challenge with this life experience and you get the explosive yet emotive ‘Coming Of Age’!
