Ella Jinks – This Fall

A stunning and emotive new alternative folk pop release gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes. Ella Jinks‘ ‘This Fall’ is helping me heal.

‘This Fall’ is a soft, bare ballad with hauntingly beautiful vocals telling a story of pain, heartbreak, and being human. She sings and shares her feelings, giving her listeners her heart, telling a heart-wrenching story through a warm and string-driven soundscape, and her incredible voice. ‘This Fall’ is the soundtrack to our healing journey, helping us relate and understand, as well as seeing a new perspective.

“I think I’d rather take this fall, then to never feel anything at all…”

‘This Fall’ was co-written with Katie Melua, and shows the beauty in vulnerability and discomfort. The tender single follows Jinks’s debut EP, and continues on her rich and subtly vibrant signature sound. Speaking about the single, she said, “I wrote ‘This Fall’ back in 2022 with Katie. It’s a song about understanding the importance of embracing pain in difficult situations rather than numbing ourselves entirely. Through the writing process, I realised that when we suppress sadness, we also suppress our capacity for joy and so it’s actually better to fully experience our emotions as they come, rather than burying them only for them to resurface later.”
