We don’t often hear them soar and ramble like Bill Hetta‘s ‘Avalanche’ does. This powerful and anthemic rock track is filled with all the good elements strong guitar rock has to offer.
The alternative rock and metal group takes inspiration from bands such as The Strokes, Interpol, Burzum, and Deafheaven, and blend their inspirations seamlessly. With an echoing, drum-driven intro and a sound as if having been created and recorded in a warehouse, the band set the, rather mysterious, tone for their new record. The story behind ‘Avalanche’ is told through uncannily passionate vocals that talk, sing, and scream, and is amplified by slowly rousing guitar and bass lines. Combining alternative rock, metal, a dash of synths, and a sniff of indie, the track truly blends and bends genres and expectations and brings an energising and empowering piece of art.
Founding member of Bill Hetta, Kameron Pattison, produced and performed every instrument on ‘Avalanche’, which has resulted in a deal with Italian label Wondr Records. Pattison briefly performed the Bill Hetta songs solo acoustically before deciding to bring the band back together. This emotive rock track shows how Pattison, or Bill Hetta, doesn’t let genres and expectations define him, and that there is such value in creating your own path and carving your own musical directions. I’m excited to see what the new year has got in store for Bill Hetta.
