Emotive and introspective new pop single ‘Nevermind’ is the latest from musician and actor Ben Barnes, whose face I recognised from super series Punisher.
‘Nevermind’ navigates anxiety and being lost in thought, and offers a simply comforting pop song with strong vocals and some great guitar lines. On his new single, Ben says: “‘Nevermind’ is a song about anxiety and the various ways to try to soothe that shaking feeling in your stomach that can’t be ignored. It’s about the stories we tell ourselves, the beginnings we re-write, the endings we rose-tint and the fantasies we project before coming back to the truth, back to the ground you’re lying on.”
Together with previously released soul pop bop ‘Beloved’, ‘Nevermind’ will make an appearance on the debut album ‘Where The Light Gets In’ which is due for release on the 10th of January. The songs on the album will be showcasing Barnes’ innate hopefulness and a perspective earned through lived experience. He hopes the record will encourage “clarity when life feels sombre, empowers you in the face of pain or vulnerability, and makes you feel lovable when the world tries to tell you that you’re not enough”.
The release of ‘Where The Light Gets In’ will be followed by a UK and Europe tour in February and although he is sadly not planning on touching down in the north east, we might just venture out into Scotland for the wandering pop sound of this versatile and talented creative!
