Straylings – Silent Moon
A warm swaying, subtly colourful single comes from the hand of Straylings. They created an enigmatic new release that is built by bright shining vocals and an eclectic and guitar-driven soundscape and released it under the name of ‘Silent Moon’. They drift away on a softly rippling river and take us with them on their journey. ‘Silent Moon’ is bright and charming and makes for a great taster of what the duo have on offer, something you’ll have to discover for yourself!

‘Methanol’ is the slow paced alternative folk ballad August For Dawn just shared with the worlds and it is one of those dauntingly beautiful tracks that give us goose bumps all over. His stunning voice leads us through a musical and misty forest that is filled with soft folk elements with hints of indie and soft pop hooks. august for dawn is led by Charlie from the band Yumi Zouma, ‘Methanol’ is his latest solo release and it is the acoustic folk anthem we longed for.
Afternoon In The Park – Destination
Charming new alternative rock release ‘Destination’ is our introduction to Yamin Alma’s musical brainchild Afternoon In The Park. The track is a fast paced and eclectic indie alternative rock release that is driven by sharp vocals and a thunderous soundscape that leaves no space for standing still. The single is due to make an appearance on the upcoming debut EP ‘ON/OFF’ and was produced by American producer Gordon Raphaël who worked with The Strokes and The Libertines to name a few. We hear and enjoy those influences and look forward to the EP!
YAYA SHAKE SHAKE – HEY YOU MOTHERFUNKER
YAYA SHAKE SHAKE inject us with a dose of funky R&B and soul with their fanatic and highly energetic new alternative world anthem ‘HEY YOU MOTHERFUNKER’. Alternative folk outfit Kingfishr completely hooked and gripped us with previous releases and has done so once again with new single ‘Bet On Beauty’ of the upcoming album. Stunning vocals and a heaving soundscape make for another hard hitter that shows the band have much more on offer than what they’ve already shared with the world. This dark yet uplifting, energetic sound is a blend you’ve not heard before and it’s one you’ll want to listen to on repeat!
Sunbeam – Hometown
Our favourite fast rising Whitby-based indie outfit have made their return with new single ‘Hometown’, in the same vein of previously released indie anthem ‘Northern Town’. The single plays with different guitar-driven elements and brings an eclectic alternative sound driven by the powerful vocals of singer James Organ-Simpson. On ‘Hometown’ Sunbeam show they have much more to offer musically and it’s an exciting promise we hope they’ll keep next year!
Chef’Special – C’est La Vie
Mix hip hop with alternative indie and worldly influences and you get Dutch band Chef’Special’s new single ‘C’est La Vie’, they do as they promise and bring us a bilingual indie anthem with soft vocals and vocal harmonies and an undeniably catchy soundscape and rhythm on this swaying anthemic pop release. Hearing singer Josh Nolet bring his French into the mix was a surprise we didn’t know we needed, but surely we did, and here we are; ‘C’est La Vie’!
Glass Dove – Weight Of The World
Nashville-based artist Glass Dove has brought us a soaring and emotive new alternative pop release in ‘Weight Of The World’, an inspiring and engaging release driven by stunning vocals and an eclectic soundscape. Mixing different influences and inspirations makes for an engaging listen, this new single is a wandering pop song fuelled by passion and emotions and brings a comforting and warm sound to our last Round Up of the year!
