Slung – Laughter

Trauma-fuelled powerful rock track ‘Laughter’ is the latest by Slung, who’ll be releasing their debut album ‘In Ways’ in May via Fat Dracula!

Unapologetically heavy, thunderous and fanatic, ‘Laughter’ is instantly captivating and rather addictive in its unique right. Combining thick riffs with heavy drums, howling vocals and a catchy rhythm make for a great rock track a la YONAKA. On their new release, vocalist Katie said: “This song is about a face-off that’s been a long time coming, and the difficult relationships we can have with members of our family, especially our parents. When we’re children we’re so desperate for our parents’ attention and approval that their dismissal or rejection can feel agonising. With an emotionally absent parent, trying desperately to earn love or consideration from someone who isn’t capable of giving it can be so destructive. This hurt can often develop into resentment as we age and we may even later villainise this person, wanting to fight, confront, defeat them.”

‘Laughter’ is an introduction like no other and embraces a heavy punk rock soundscape that leaves no room for doubt; Slung are an exciting outfit to wrap your eyes and ears around. They showcase their sonic universe by comprising the power of guitarist Ali’s incendiary riffs, Katie’s enviable vocal range, bassist Vlad’s undulating yet grounding basslines, and drummer Ravi’s expert rhythmic punctuation. Katie’s personal mission for the band relates to representation, inclusion, sisterhood, and women being a more dominant force in music, and we’re here for it!

The band is heading out on tour this May, to celebrate the release of the new album, and will be touching down in Brighton, Reading, Guildford, Bristol, and Cardiff to name a few places!
