A hauntingly emotional new alternative pop release helped EEVAH land on our radar and made a lasting impression, ‘I Still Think Of You’ is their soaring new indie anthem.
‘I Still Think Of You’ is memorable, relatable, and charming, captivating its listeners throughout. Angelic vocals and a subtle, shimmering soundscape make for an enchanting listen with elements of the moody atmosphere we know from The National and The XX, and the shimmering pop trance HAIM and London Grammer elevated. Their influences might be strong, but their unique take on gloomy indie pop is stronger, EEVAH have found their signature sound and created a world around it.
On ‘I Still Think Of You’ they take their listeners on a journey and introduce their musical world, while introducing the subject of grief following the passing of singer Nicole’s grandmother. “Nicole was trying to connect with memories of conflict surrounding a family illness, guilt in the face of death and just wanting it all to be over,” explained Richard. “Sonically, I was trying to craft some post-rock apocalypse out of opposing guitar and piano and drum rhythms. It’s a conflict and it sounds huge but somehow incomplete… Until Nicole comes in with a beautiful lament about memories of carrying her gran coming out of the hospital.”
The memories, the love, and the pain she carries, is adamant on this new release, but in the form of a comforting shoulder to lean or cry on. Comforting as it may sound, we’d still recommend bringing a pack of tissues to their upcoming live shows, as EEVAH will be touring the UK in March, touching down in Leeds, North Shields, Glasgow, Manchester, and many other cities!
