Dutch alternative pop artist Daniël Nolet shared a warm and romantic new winter anthem to guide us through the grey, cold days of this season. ‘Winter’ is the warm sound blanket we needed.
‘Winter’s soundscape shimmers like a jewel in the cold winter sun and builds up towards an explosive chorus with hints of brass. This marble sound is delicate and highlights Nolet’s musical prowess by blending soul with an alternative pop sound that has commercial tendencies. ‘Winter’ is an easy listening release that never bores and showcases those simple yet evocative vocals we now know to associate with Daniël Nolet.
The The Hagues-born, Amsterdam-based artist takes inspiration from his day-to-day life and bigger themes such as loss and depression. ‘Winter’ is an ode to the winter blues, “I tried to capture the numbness and despair that I go through every winter. My winter depression made into a song but with light at the end of the tunnel.” This organic pop release is the first of five coming in the coming months taken from his second EP. If on this upcoming collection of songs he plays with the seasons and our feelings the way he does on ‘Winter’ we simply can’t wait to hear it all!
