Dutch power outfit Honey I’m Home is comprised of musicians from all different genres and previous projects and together they are now putting their stamp on the international music scene with first alternative shoegaze single ‘Wishful Thinking’.
‘Wishful Thinking’ is a confident piece of ethereal alternative shoegaze with hazy vocals and a glistening soundscape. Bringing a mix of fuzzy guitar lines, dreamy vocals and an abundance of reverb, the band stuns with this strong debut. Working with mix legend Sonny Diperri, who previously worked with DIIV and Protomartyr to name a few, they elevated the track to a new level, showing off lessons taken from previous projects.
After the band’s rehearsal space burned to the ground, destroying instruments and gear, the band believed they’re cursed, vocalist and guitarist Thom talks about the single: “‘Wishful Thinking’ explores the longing to reconnect with people no longer in your life, whether it’s a lost love or a departed family member. we tried to capture the intensity of that unfulfilled desire with a layered, dreamlike soundscape.”
Although this debut is a seriously captivating one, the band don’t take themselves too seriously, having gained too much from the past knowing that life isn’t about seriousness but about creating mesmerising art with friends and others alike.
