Ricky Leroy Brown: “I was made for this shit and nobody can take away my mojo”

‘Acedia’ is Ricky Leroy Brown‘s new EP, it delves into a compelling narrative and explores a fictional tale of redemption and self-discovery. The EP was recorded at Oliversalstudios in Spain and stands out due to its raw emotion and intricate storytelling. All of the above is why we had to speak to Brown about his music and future plans.

Hi! Could you introduce yourself, your genre, and your musical influences?
“I’m Ricky Leroy Brown. They call me the golden singer due to my clothes and guitars and my genre can be called “Bombast-Music”. My idols within all my productions are WHAM, Queen, Aretha Franklin and Prince.”

What inspired you to start making music and what inspires you to keep going?
“I guess the start of it all was me listening to We Will Rock You when I was around eight years old. I wanna create a legacy of truth, honesty and rawness in music.”

You’ve recorded your new EP in Spain, how and why did you decide to do it there and at that specific studio?
“The Masters werde done in spain by PKOStudios. The production was made in germany at the Oliversalstudios.”

Who would you like to work with and where would you like to perform in the next three years?
“I’d like to work again with the powerwomen-band MUXU from madrid. They know their stuff!
And to perform in South-America would be one of my biggest goals yet!”

Where do you, in general, get inspiration for your music and song-writing?
“I only compose songs if a melody comes to my head. I don’t force songs to come out. That leaves me with maybe 5 songs a year but they get all the attention and love.”

Which musical achievements are you most proud of?
“Being a part of the Freddie Memorial Day in Montreux might be my biggest flex yet.”

What are your plans for this year and what do you hope to achieve?
“I’ll have a new producer called Carlos Heredia from Peru and I hope and feel like we will raise hell on the music scene!”

What tip would you give your younger self to make sure they don’t give up on their dreams?
“Well, I never gave up anyway in the past because music is the only thing I can do in this cruel world. I was made for this shit and nobody can take away my mojo.”
