Halifax trio EEVAH create stunning dream pop pieces that linger long after they’re played out. ‘I Didn’t See it Coming’ is a collection of four soaring tracks driven by mesmerising vocals.
Its title and opening track sets the tone for a hazy shoegaze pop dream that takes us on an emotive musical journey. The trio have just completed a sold out UK tour and launched the release of ‘I Didn’t See It Coming’ at Hebden Bridge’s Trades Club. On their EP they bridge the gap between introspective lyricism and infectious, stadium-sized anthems. With their soaring soundscapes and delicious guitar licks running the show, its captivating vocals only add another layer of depth to their sound.
‘I Still Think Of You’ and ‘If It Ain’t You’ are painstakingly open-hearted and relatable to those of us that have loved before, and when hearing the band perform it live at North Shield’s Three Tanners Bank a matter of months ago, I had to swallow my tears. The band stunningly delivers these short stories of pain, love, and loss, creating timeless pockets of alternative dream pop. The four tracks cover themes such as rejection and trying to make sense of life, EEVAH do that through melancholic soundscapes that simply need to be listened to on repeat.
Sometimes the words and feelings simply roll out of me, making me feel seen, accepted and a lot less along, EEVAH accomplished that through their wandering sounds and it’s a talent not many possess. I’m already looking forward to more and new work, despite still listening to ‘I Didn’t See it Coming’ over and over again.
