Plàsi brings a fearless and limitless approach to sounds, moods, textures, and vibes on five track counting EP ‘Camino’. The Greco-Swedish singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist continues to set himself apart on this expansive piece of art.
His wandering and thumping alternative story telling sound instantly captivates on EP-opener ‘Father’s Eyes’. Bringing a sound similar to indie outfit White Lies, and prodigious artist Tamino, Plàsi made an instant fan out of me. With angelic vocal harmonies and a subtle soundscape, the poetry that stands confident and tall within the centre of ‘Father’s Eyes’ gives it its depth and becomes the focal point of ‘Camino’. ‘Waiting for Signs’ celebrates this theme and elaborates on it, its rich soundscape covering me in a comforting blanket of sounds.
‘Camion’ celebrates creative freedom, self-discovery, and the courage to walk your own path, something that suits Plàsi very well. He explains; “Creating music and sharing it has opened up this Camino (path) for me, it’s saved me in dark times and helped me enhance the happy ones. Living out my passion has made me a better person, more human, less opportunistic.” We hear this human connection through a sonic signature that blends acoustic roots with subtle expansive compositions, it is playful and vibrant, emotive and deeply rooted.
Worldly anthem ‘Efiga’ shows how simplicity is key to connecting through music, and ‘Heights’ brings a stunning junction between indie pop, folk, and world music, resembling the sound of pagan folk artists such as FAUN and Omnia. Its hints at the natural world make this a favourite out of these five for me. ‘Camino’ brings another culture to the forefront, and its lyricism beautifully amplifies the subject of this EP, “in this world, we’re put in boxes, but I remind myself to follow my own path instead of worrying about what others think.” And with this EP, Plàsi invites and inspired others to do the same.
