Unexpectedly open-hearted, Carrying Torches‘ latest alternative rock anthem ‘Opening Up’ defies expectations and rolls with the punches life hands out, and makes them bearable.
‘Opening Up’ follows two storylines; one of a character facing their insecurities and the other embracing new opportunities and love. Its pop rock soundscape emphasises the push and pull of the two characters and tells the story through heavy hitting drums and voices sweet as honey. Both characters meet on a symbolic hill, where clarity or confrontation happens.
Showing off their ability to release a story within a song, Carrying Torches have shared a release that digs below the music and unearths a narrative, giving away more and more with every listen. The Chicago-born band emerged in 2016 and released their debut EP in 2017, in 2019 single ‘Strangers’ from their debut EP coveted Song of the Year title at the Kankakee Area Music Awards, they followed up their success with multiple singles and exhilarating performances. ‘Opening Up’ sounds like the arena-ready track we would want to listen to over and over again, in a live setting, at a sweaty venue, in the midst of an exhilarated crowd.
With their unique flair, strong story telling, and already rich career, Carrying Torches are set to light some more hearts afire with ‘Opening Up’ being the start of this new chapter, at least for us.
