Lucifers Beard – Loveland

Lucifers Beard’s ‘Loveland’ is a heavy-thumping, psychedelic blues-rock odyssey that wastes no time drawing you into its universe.

The track opens with a bold intro that stretches on just long enough to tease what’s coming; although a tad too long for my taste, it also plays with the sense of impatience that vanishes as soon as its soft, almost dreamlike vocals enter the mix. From there, ‘Loveland’ becomes an infectious, technicolour rush that invites you to surrender to its rhythm.

There’s a warmth running through every layer of its soundscape; swirling guitars shimmer like heat haze, the bassline thunders on unstoppably, and the drums punch through with festival-ready power. It’s a song that feels handcrafted, brimming with precision and playfulness. Echoes of ELO’s lush harmonies and Bowie’s spirit blend well with the funk-coloured swagger of Daft Punk and Huey Lewis, creating something that is hard to pin to any single era.

Mastered by Ed Ripley (Frank Turner, Dirty Blonde, Spice Girls), ‘Loveland’ is vibrant, and a love letter to the dreamers and misfits searching for havens and neon-lit utopias, it is an irresistible invitation to lose yourself, just for a while, somewhere wild, warm, and a little unhinged.
