Indie artist Lenny Zen released his EP ‘Revertigo!’ last month and with his bold, psychedelic soundscapes created a collection of tracks that are eccentrically captivating.
‘Revertigo!’ is a hypnotic and genre-redefining statement that opens strongly with ‘Do You Ever Wonder?’, bringing indie pop, alternative rock hooks and reflective lyrics together. The track immediately sets the tone for the rest of the EP, which is melodic yet introspective, playful yet profound. Lenny’s vocal delivery balances intimacy and swagger, echoing influences from alt-rap and psych-pop while staying true to himself.
Across the EP, Lenny Zen weaves a narrative of emotional whiplash and creative rediscovery. The record’s title becomes a metaphor for the tension between forward motion and nostalgic regression, a sonic tug-of-war between chaos and clarity. Each track feels like a different stage on his journey, moments of doubt and conformity giving way to liberation and light. On ‘Stick Around’, shimmering synths and hypnotic percussion intertwine with earnest lyricism, crafting a bittersweet reflection on connection and uncertainty. ‘Glitter’, one of the EP’s standout singles, bursts with dreamlike textures, embodying the idea of finding beauty within confusion.
‘People Pleaser’ dives into the darker corners of identity, layering warped guitars and warm basslines under confessional vocals. Lenny’s song writing feels both personal and universal, exploring the pressure to perform and the exhaustion that comes with it. Even in its heaviest moments, ‘Revertigo!’ maintains a sense of wonder. The production, self-assured and dynamic, blends the organic and electronic; lo-fi samples work with polished synths, and glitchy effects give way to lush harmonies.
At its heart, ‘Revertigo!’ is about reclaiming yourself, or in Lenny’s words; “trusting your inner child”. It’s a deeply personal work that still invites the listener in, asking them to confront their own layers of doubt and rediscovery. The EP closes on an uplifting note, suggesting that the only way out of the noise is through it; running as fast as you can toward the light, however it may present itself. With ‘Revertigo!’, Lenny Zen delivers the sound of an artist stepping boldly into his truth, and inviting us to do the same.
