Lottie Willis‘ ‘Rosie’ is the soft and soothing indie pop anthem we needed on this rainy afternoon. The Sunderland-based singer songwriter showcases her soulful voice on this latest release.
Her latest is boldly infectious and an earwig like I’ve not heard in a while that was inspired by It Ends With Us. The film sparked an outpouring of poetry Willis turned into music that was written in in one evening at home on her keyboard. On ‘Rosie’, Lottie said: “Before writing this song I hadn’t actually written for a long time. I tend to write solely from personal experience, but after watching this film I felt so urged to write, about invisible strings, about two people who still feel so strongly for each other after all that time. The name Rosie came from my teddy, who was just sat next to me while I was writing, it started as a placeholder, but it stuck.”
She’s refreshingly youthful on this triumphant pop track that was recorded and produced in Sunderland with local producer Connor Jobes. The single is a personal favourite of which I knew every single word the moment I’d heard it for the first time. To be able to now listen to it on repeat online is an absolute treat.
