Zac Henderson – Flash Flood

Zac Henderson‘s warm and colourful folk punk sound is shared with us in the form of latest single ‘Flash Flood’. It’s a telling of a true story about exploring the subterranean when a sudden surge of stormwater turned an adventure in the tunnels into a frantic escape.

That frantic feeling is translated into an energetic guitar-driven soundscape which bounces like we do after a fourth cup of coffee, and hits every note, making it a song we’ve been listening to on repeat. On the single and its inspiration, Zac said: “A friend and I were exploring beneath the city when a sudden surge of stormwater turned an adventure in the tunnels into a frantic escape.” On the track he brings together acoustic guitar finger-picking, violin, banjo, drums, and warm bass lines to capture the tension, fear and “eventual relief of stumbling back into daylight, soaked and breathless but lucky to be alive”.

‘Flash Flood’ is the third release from the Tasmanian’s album ‘Change The Tides’, and is based on a true story set in the Hobart Rivulet. The album promises more of his story telling folk punk sound that is rooted in experiences he’s gone through and needed to process. His sound is warm, welcoming, and openhearted and brings a new genre, for us, centre stage.
