I’ve said it before and with this new release feel it even more: “When I grow up, I want to be the guitarist of Nada Surf.” Three years ago I went to see Nada Surf live for the first time, together with my father in the venue I worked at at the time, Melkweg Amsterdam. As soon as they started playing I was completely confused on why that show wasn’t sold out. They call themself an indie band, but to be honest I don’t think that does justice for the songs this band puts out. ‘Song for Congress’ is one of the first political songs the band released, as those are hard to write. The separation of families at the U.S. – Mexico border was the inspiration for this song.
Thought-through compositions combined with the lead-vocals being the most striking part of this single make it a mesmerizing one, leaving us with goosebumps all over.
