Calm Canopy – Moss

Calm Canopy offers a respite from our cluttered and overbearing digital world with his bouncy new single “Moss.” Written in solitude on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, multi instrumentalist Mike Papaloni captures the brimming natural life of his surroundings with a kinetic and melodic arrangement. A brief acoustic guitar driven intro bursts into a bustling beat complimented by a busy bassline, summery guitar chords, and periodic synth accents. Papaloni’s jazzy drum work shines throughout as frequent drum breaks add an optimistic propulsion to the track. His encouraging sentiments to live in the moment is contrasted by the incessant distraction of modern technology in lyrics such as: “Then the sombre glow returns as you’re reading the phone/ You hold the blue midnight sun in your room/ Fool your circadian, the morning has come.” An extended instrumental outro affirms Papaloni’s hopeful sentiment with a tasteful speed picked guitar melody. Calm Canopy is starting 2021 on a high note.
