Meadowlark – Brainwashed

The brightly shimmering new alt pop song Meadowlark have just released is beautifully fragile, emotive, soft and introspective. ‘Brainwashed’ is captivatingly beautiful from its very first tones and is driven by subtle vocal harmonies and a sweet soundscape.

“‘Brainwashed’ is about being trapped in the idea and belief that we need a partner, success, money, to be happy and fulfilled – and not that happiness is outside of us. But it’s a lie. And the universe will give us these things to lose over and over again to remind us of this lie. To be human is to be brainwashed to some extent. We have everything we need to be happy right here, right now! The present moment is all we have. Everything else fades away either sooner or later. It can be a scary thought or the most liberating one of all.”

Meadowlark translated this subject into a careful pop song, slowly opening your eyes to what this life truly is about. One of those things is listening to music, enjoying it, bathing in it. The artform Meadowlark have mastered isn’t just writing songs, but telling stories and liberating those that take the time to listen to them, and it’ll pay off when you hear, see, and understand.

“I’ve been brainwashed into thinking that I need you…”
